As we reach the final Friday of the school year, it is hard to believe that only four days remain in the 2025-2026 school year.
We have one final day of exams on Monday with Periods 7 and 8, followed by three single-session days as we bring another successful school year to a close. The week will culminate with Graduation on Thursday evening, and we are excited to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 as they take the next step in their journeys.
Next week, we will also begin collecting student Chromebooks as we prepare for an exciting transition to new 1:1 devices for the 2026-2027 school year. Please be sure to read the Chromebook collection letter included in this week's Roar Report for important details and timelines.
As we head into the weekend, I would also like to wish a very Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures in our school community. Thank you for the support, guidance, and encouragement you provide to our students each and every day.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for a tremendous year. We look forward to a memorable final week and the opportunity to celebrate all that our students have achieved.
GO LIONS!

This past Monday, members of the Class of 2026 returned to where their educational journey began as they participated in Clap Outs at their elementary schools. Students who attended Edgewater Schools visited EVG, while those who attended Anna C. Scott Elementary School returned to ACS.
Seniors took one final walk through the halls of their elementary schools, greeted by current students, staff, and many of their former teachers. It was a special opportunity to reconnect with the educators who helped shape their early years and to reflect on how far they have come as they prepare for graduation.

Students from all four cohorts of the Leonia Academy for Hospitality and Culinary Arts proudly participated in the Leonia Food Safety Excellence Awards Reception. Working alongside their teachers, Ms. Gabrielsen, Ms. Naf, and Ms. Adler, students prepared and served a variety of dishes for guests attending the event.
The evening celebrated local businesses that go above and beyond to promote food safety and protect the health and well-being of our community. We are proud of our students for showcasing their culinary talents and professionalism while supporting this important community event.

The Board of Education recognized the Class of 2026 students who earned the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy this past Tuesday. This prestigious distinction honors students who have demonstrated high levels of proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both English and at least one additional language.
This year, 37 seniors earned the Seal of Biliteracy across 10 languages, including Arabic, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Turkish, Ukrainian, and, for the first time in school history, Latin. This year's group was our largest ever and included six students who earned the Seal in two languages and two students who successfully completed assessments in three languages.
Congratulations to all of our Seal of Biliteracy recipients on this outstanding achievement. We would also like to thank Dr. Gander, Supervisor of World Languages, for her leadership and dedication in coordinating and growing this program. Her efforts have helped create opportunities for students to showcase their linguistic talents and earn this distinguished recognition.

Students in Ms. Rovelli's Ceramics class recently completed a creative community art project by designing and crafting 45 unique bird sculptures. The colorful flock was generously donated to the Erika and David Boyd Sculpture Garden in Leonia, where Sculpture for Leonia has placed the birds throughout the garden for visitors to discover.
Each bird showcases the creativity and craftsmanship of our student artists while adding a touch of color and whimsy to this local cultural space. Community members are invited to visit the sculpture garden and see if they can spot all 45 birds hidden throughout the grounds.
Congratulations to Ms. Rovelli and her talented ceramics students for leaving a lasting artistic mark on our community!

Congratulations to Leonia High School Class of 2024 graduate Jaden Marchan on an incredible achievement at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships!

In the men's 400-meter dash final at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, Jaden placed 7th in the nation, crossing the finish line in an outstanding 44.87 seconds.
With his performance, Jaden earned First-Team All-America honors, placing seventh in the 400m final with a time of 44.87. His historic finish marks another milestone in what has been a remarkable sophomore season that included a Big East Championship and All-Big East honors.
We are incredibly proud of all that Jaden has accomplished and look forward to following his continued success on the national stage.
Congratulations, Jaden, on making Georgetown and the Leonia community proud!
